What to pack - Natalie - Project Coordinator Intern

"Oahu is stunning, and despite all the tourist resorts, it still maintains areas of outstanding natural beauty. The island is best known for its capital Honolulu, touristy Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head (an extinct volcanic crater and State Park)."

What to pack - Cat - Project Coordinator Intern

"Our camp was based right in the middle of the bush - so waking up to lion roars, baboons squabbling and impala prancing around became the norm very quickly.  I also got a little too friendly with ‘peanut bugs’ and regularly woke up with them in my sleeping bag and on my pillow!"

WHAT TO PACK – HANNAH – ONLINE JOURNALISM INTERN

"On one of the days we decided it would be a cracking idea to rent out a pedalo but we didn’t want to just potter down the river; no, like true intrepid pedalo explorers, we set our maritime sights high: intending to cross the open water between islands so that we could glide on past the royal palace in pedalotastic style."

Wondering how he managed to run this sort of operation whilst nursing a hangover and without drowning, I thought I’d best do my PADI advanced open water with him."

"What do you do when you’ve just graduated from University, your birthday is coming up and you’ve got a couple weeks to kill, but not a lot of money? There’s really only one solution: a road trip to Austria!"

WHAT TO PACK - CLAIRE - OVERSEAS OPERATIONS INTERN

"We spent a total of eight days in the jungle, canoeing and trekking with the direction of our guides, one of whom was a member of the local Huaorani tribe. We were shown some of the many incredible plants and animals the Amazon has to offer, including edible ants (they taste of lemons) and plants that can be used as antiseptics and painkillers."

WHAT TO PACK - HALEY - BIODIVERSITY AND CONSERVATION INTERN

"We heard the call “shark!” and I was the first one to jump in the rickety cage and wait to see a great white. Unfortunately, the shark had other ideas and didn’t make an appearance for half an hour, leaving us in the cold South African waters until another shark was spotted. The great white that perused the cage measured 6 feet long and moved very gracefully."
